Education: I studied holistic nutrition at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and went on to study in the professional chef training program at the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts.
Current/previous Career: I am a Kids’ Nutritionist specializing in helping parents deal with picky eating and other feeding challenges. I am also the founder of Healthy Moms, a community of moms throughout the GTA and a discount card that give moms access to savings at over 200 local and online businesses with a focus on natural products and services. The Healthy Moms discount card is expanding this year to include a listing in the Vancouver area.
What’s the most challenging part of being a parent? As our kids get older, there are so many important decisions to be made that can alter the course of their lives. Trying to make the best choices for your child can be really challenging. Sometimes it’s hard to know whether or not you are making the right decision.
Do you work from home or at an office? Why? I work from home. I had an office for over 10 years but eventually found it to be an unnecessary expense. I now see clients virtually via phone or Skype and work on Healthy Moms in between.
What are the benefits of this arrangement to you personally? Working from home allows me to multitask and gives me an extra hour every day without the drive to work. It also gives me the flexibility to volunteer at my kids’ school or attend school performances.
What is the downside for you, your child and your family?
Being at home can sometimes be a distraction and depending on who else is home, it can often make it challenging to get work done.
What hobbies do you enjoy? I am a big baseball fan and I love karaoke!
What was the last good book you read? Haha, who has time to read?
What are you most proud of? I am proud of the Healthy Moms community that I have built. I started the Facebook group about 4 years ago and it has since grown to almost 10,000 amazing local moms.
